It’s all very well signing up a contact for your energy which fixes your energy costs for 12,24 or 36 months but what happens when the contact ends?  

 

Too many energy suppliers have small print in their contacts stating that they have the right to ‘roll over’ a contract for another 12 months if you do not cancel you existing one and give the relevant notice.  The rollover contact is invariably at a higher price and you could be locked in.

Following an extended period of energy price increases, British Gas were the first supplier to announce a price reduction today (8/2/07).  A mild winter all over Europe means there are large stocks being held.  In a commodity market high stocks means lower prices.
